What to do with The Big Emotions

You are the sky ☁️🌌⛈️ This is a great practice to do when overwhelming emotions threaten your peace of mind. First, connect to your breathing. . Then, visualize that you are with great grandfather sky. Breathe in the spaciousness and serenity of the sky. Next, visualize your troubling thoughts, your uncomfortable or overwhelming emotions as each being it's own self-contained thunder cloud. . Notice that even with all their terrifying thunder and lightening, that they are not *YOU*, and that they will pass. . When you're ready, breathe in all the feelings and suffering encompassed in those clouds, and with the out breath, exhale the opposite. Breathe out the expansive, peaceful, uncomplicated joy of the sky beyond, sending this healing breath to all your brother's and sisters in the world who are suffering under these self same rain clouds. . Continue to breath in the suffering, breathe out the peaceful healing. Doing it for you, and for those who suffer with you. . This practice of breathing in the suffering and exhaling peace and expansion, is a Buddhist excercise called Tonglen. . . . . . #tonglenmeditation #meditation #buddhistmeditation #quotes #dailyquotes #quotesdaily #quoteoftheday #wisdom #wisdomquotes #wordsofwisdom #begoodtoyourself #selflove #selflovequotes #internalfamilysystems #gabormate #peterlevine #triggered #marshallrosenberg #besselvanderkolk #compassionate #compassionateinquiry #wokeaf #thirdeye #reiki #buddhism #mindfulliving #spiritualguidance #pemachodron
